Hi,

please can you help me to identify the following tachina fly.

location: Austria, near Vienna - on Eryngium
Date: yesterday
Size: about 12 mm

Looks like one of those red Peleteria or Linneamyia. Difficult angle.

Hi,

I still cannot see the face, but my guess would be Linnaemya.

thanks for your help. Unfortunately i have no picture of the face. Perhaps i'll find this insect again in my garden.

I see ocellar bristles, so it can't be Peleteria.
Which leaves Linnaemyia as option.

What worries me is that the eyes appear to be bare....
