Lake side in Wetland Kerkini Northern Greece. Very common, a large species more than 1cm body length. Could it be
Chironomus tentans?

Certainly looks like
Chironomus, but we need a really good male genitalia pic to confirm species

Some more Kerkini flies are on their way to you. Do you know anybody who would like some Chironomids, I have tens of thousandsso it could be sharing.

Hi Gordon - looking forward to the next batch (when I get a spare moment!). No. I don't know any active chironomid expert who is short of material to work on. You could try asking on the Entomol listserv.
