An unexpexted result of today 1 hour collecting in Moscow city (!) -

Described from Finland by single male, holotype lost, so it is a neotype.

1. It wasn't me, who lost Karl's holotype :@
2. Usualy I slowly walk on the forest and try to spot swarming males. Usually in June in Moscow region 95-98 swarming males are F.sociella, but this year
sociella is rare (I think it was frosed in early May), so Fannia are moe rare than usually, but more interesting.

Nikita, have you read the requirements of the 4th Code for neotype designation? It must be designated a) in the course or a taxonomical revision, b) toavoid any misapplication of the name (in the case you have 2 or more similar species fitting original description, etc.) and - it is better - to originate from the type locality. To designate neotypes for one Linnean and one Fabrician name, I took 2 trips - to Sweden and to France. And also: it should be nice to have at least one leg freshly conservated in alcohol for DNA sequencing to have a gene marker.
So please, ask yourself if your case fits all the requirements, and if it is really necessary to designate the neotype...
Otherwise, congratulations on the rare find!B)
