this is one of several tiny flies from the bank of Rio Tajo, toledo spain, 2008-08-10, that were sitting on low vegetation. they have strikingly long first legs that i've never seen in a fly. what could it be?

Every Chironomid holds its legs like this, I tink this is an Orthocladiinae female.

hm, now you say it... maybe because the legs were so dark, they really didn't look like Chironomidae at the time. thanks!
