hi flyforum,

On leafes of Urtica dioica, I got this tiny fly.

The fly feels like Coenosia sp. to me..

It this correct?
Further identification isn't possible?
If needed, I have other views.

greeting Robert

If there are 3 dorsocentral postsutural setae, it should be an Anthomyiid...

Muscidae also have 3 post dc, like Conosia. And Coenosia it is, a male, I think Coenosia mollicula if the squamae are of equally size.

No rule without exception... How many (of the common) Muscids have 3 setae, is it only the Coenosia group? I found the number a convenient character to tell Muscids and Anthos apart!
