Found sitting on a Sycamore Tree in the garden yesterday...Size about 10mm ish. I know they are hard to ID, but you never know till you ask.

Chironomidae, Cbironominae, most likely Chironomus. Male.

Thank you Gabor...further than I thought it would go....
Chironomus on my list are;
C.annularis,
C.aprilinus and
C.salinarius, but I suppose that would require getting the spanners out, so
C.sp is good enough for me.
