Hi

This is a new one to me. Caught in open grassland with cattle nearby 9. VI 2009.
Body length some 7.5 mm.

It keys out as Drymeia vicana reasonably well, but I am a bit unhappy about the description of that species.
Drymeia sp. should be okay, however, with proclinate lower orbital and crossed interfrontals.

Am I right in assuming that it is D. vicana? Would be quite a nice find for Denmark apparently.

Regards,
Walther

Hello,
I am convinced you've got the right ID, though I don't personnaly know this fly.
What is bothering you ?

Hello Stephane,

Thanks for supporting D. vicana. Much appreciated!

What was bothering me is that the Central Europaean key primarily describes the male habitus with a quick remark about the female being like the male except for this and that. But that is really no problem - the key characteres fit.
Another thing is that I'm naturally very cautious when encountering a species in a genus I've never seen before. And at that the least common :)

Walther
