Hi, we haven't seen Your threads since a while, welcome back! The fly looks similar to Empis (Lissempis) nigritarsis to me but has longer mouthparts...

Thanks P Walter,
I have ben very busy co-ordinating volunteers for a passerine migration survey for three months, they have all been staying with me. Nice job done, but it was exhausting. I will wait and see what paul says about the fly, as he has my empid specimens.

The subgenus
Lissempis has a few Mediterranean species, so it may indeed be another species than
nigritarsis, even though that species is recorded from Greece, too.
