Hello forum,

Yesterday I found this Tabanidae in the south of the Netherlands. Is it possible to give it an ID?
A few species look a lot like this one but I still doubt which is the right one.

It is either Tabanus bromius or maculicornis male.
IT is as grey as maculicornis, however, the head size suggests otherwise.
More pictures might help, if available.

Thanks a lot Theo.
They really do look the same.
I did make more picture's but unfortunally they were not so good (unsharp). I will go back one of these days, maybe I will find it again.

Greetings, Arno

Well, I restudied the second picture, I don't see any longer hairs on occiput, so it should be bromius after all.
