Hi,
Recently we had an interesting discussion about black flies with big eyes (
Bicellaria, Hybotidae versus
Ptiolina, Rhagionidae), and I was sure to have one of them in front of my camera lens today. On the big screen, however, I saw that neither swollen hind tarsi nor antennae match. Also the thorax is not thus bulging. Instead, the fly looks like a
Beris of Stratiomyidae. So can possibly
B. chalybata be confirmed? Many thanks for help,
Sundew

Fine - thanks, Paul! The males obviously have much darker wings than the females.
