Found this fly sitting on the outside of my greenhouse today...in the shade. Don't know what it might be...size 5-7mm I think.

Thanks Andrzej...I had a similar female 10 days ago, about 1 metre away from where this one was photographed. They seem to prefer very shady places to sit, which makes it awkward to get good photographs. Might have to collect some for better shots....

I have an idea to ID to the species level. I will check all visible characters from the pics and write as soon as possible. A look at the face would make the ID easier :|

I have no photo's of the face to date..this fly was actually facing down the way at low level..the photo's were rotated to give a better view. Can't get out today to look for any more as it is very windy with heavy rain...If it ever eases (not forecast) I'll try and catch one for better shots.
