these medium sized flies like to sun bathe on trees by pond at work
this Tachinid(?) also sunbathing on a log in Richmond Park

The tachinid looks like a
Lypha dubia but I might be wrong - I don't see enough material at this time of year.
BTW, should be 2 threads really - otherwise it gets a bit confusing ;)

The top one is probably and Egle, Anthomyiidae.
