Hello,
this unidentified fly I found on March, 13th, this year in a wood near a small lake (Mainz, Germany). It's size was about 6mm. Can someone help with the identification?
Thanks a lot,
Kathrin

Looks like a Lispe sp (Muscidae).

Hi Kathrin,
We need not only "wood near lake" but also country and which part of it - probably you are in Germany?

Ephydridae?

Yes, probably Ephidryde, I was too fast. Lispe and some Ephydridids are quite similar, because they share both habitat and habit (predators).

Certainly
Ochthera, but I can't tell which species from these photos.

Thanks a lot.
Ochthera sp is quite enough for me. I always try to take photos from different perspectives but not every insect wants to sit for that long. Maybe next time.
