It must be close to meigeni, but I wonder if this is meigeni. My literature says that there should be a pair of yellowish dots on the thorax, the thorax is different here. Also the halteres should be brownish rather than yellowish. Other aspects also do not fit precisely. Is my literature wrong?

I asked mr. Rudolf Rozkosny from the Czech Republuc to take a look at these images.
Here is his response: There are no doubts that it is a male of O. meigenii because the yellow pattern of this species is fairly variable. Nevertheless, you can compare the male genitalia of your specimen with illustrations in my manual A biosystematic study of the European Stratiomyidae (Diptera), Vol. 2, 1983, 436 pp., Dr. Junk, Hague-Boston-London.
So Tony was right after all.
