Hello!
One of the smaller flies (4 mm) licking sap on cut trunks of a hedge on March-03 (northwest Germany). ID possible? To the right a female
Phaonia tuguriorum for size comparison.

Sorry Juergen, they most likely are Muscidae, but the pictures are not enough sharp for me.
