This is a calyptrate fly. The mesonotum appears to have dense yellowish curly hairs on it. In our part of Europe you will only find that in the calliphorid genus
Pollenia. However, I do not know if there are any
Pollenia species with an appearance like this (reddish eyes and yellowish brown abdomen).

There is a similar Calliphoridae species called Isomyia prasina.
But this fly looks quite different.

What a beauty. It is indeed something very different. The mesonotum does not have those curly hairs but has a thin layer of dusting that, lucky ofr us, does not hide the beautiful colour underneath.

I'm not an expert on Japanese fauna, but it looks like a Calliphoridae in or near the genus Rhynchomyia to me.

This was recognized as a calliphorid species Dexopollenia flava Aldrich,1930 by some Japanese dipterists.
