Hello,

am I here correct with Chrysopilus cristatus (f). I found it in july in a small river valley in the austrian alps.

The hind femora are yellow.
I'd say it is asiliformis

I think the mesonotal pattern is not right for that species.

Hello,

here is another picture of the same specimen from the side. Perhaps the legs are better to see now.

What are the differences between C. cristatus and C. asiliformes anyhow? Only the color of the hind femora?

IN asiliformis, the femora are yellow.

However, last pic clearly show dark femora.
SO if this is really the same, there must have been some trick with flash. And it is cristatus after all.

They are definitively the same. The pictures are made some seconds from each other. There was no flash, but there were everywhere some sun spots which came through the leaves. Perhaps thus the yellowish shine.
