Hi, this is a relatively smaller one, I suppose Empis sp. May, NE Hungary, Birch-forest, close to a brook and also close to a little temporary pond.

99 % of these Empis Empis sp. turn out to be E. chioptera. THis species is extremely common in early-mid spring everywhere. But this is just a hint, this may show another species.

It IS anotehr species. The aedeagus is completely different from the one of chioptera. Unfortunately, it is not one I have in my keys...
