At last, a photo of the 5th sternite of a male Anthomyiidae! Congratulations Christine. I think it might be a male of Botanophila fugax Meigen, because the 5th sternite is the correct shape, and the inner margins of the processes appear to be shining black

Yes I think it the female of Botanophila fugax, because the acrostichal setae consist of one pair of strong setae before the suture, followed by onlu short hairlike acrostichals until the stronger prescutellar ones. This is visible in the male also.
