During a visit to a nice forest area I came across this couple of Dolichopodidae. They were on a Aegopodium podagraria close to a path through the area.
The male was putting on quite a show for the little lady were he was hanging in the air above her and the only thing moving was his wings.
Despite his efforts he didn't seem to have much success.

Size ~4 mm
Can this little dance be given a name?

Dolichopus, I think experts will give you species level.

Very interesting to see the forelegs held so close to the body - I expected them to be used for display - but perhaps that only happens after landing.

Hercostomus germanus (Wiedemann, 1817) is most probable in Sweden.
