Hi,
Can anyone help me identify this fly? I think it's a Calliphroid but I'm not 100% certain. A friend of mine took the picture near Athens, Greece. Can somebody point me to the right genus?
Many thanks for your help,
Thomas

That's great Theo! Many thanks. That's a great help.
Are there any keys for this genus. Do you know what species could potentially be found near Athens, Greece?
Cheers,
Thomas

Rafael, I would never dream of IDing a
Rhyncomyia from Greece ;) As Theo said, it is a very difficult genus and there are no updated studies.
The situation in Spain is different because I have studied the genus rather seriously and there are some studies not so terribly old. But the situation might change in the future. All IDs always depend of the new taxonomic 'discoveries' ;)
In other words: it isn't an easy genus to ID and many identifications are more related with being very familiar with the different species. 'Nasty' surprises might appear in the future though ;) ;)
