Hi, (second attempt, lol)

I was about to call this one Graphomya maculata but dicovered there is also G. minor and G. picta as possibilites. I found text describing the difference between two of them, mine doesn't look to have any yellow in the tergites as maculata is described as having, the colour reduced in picta, so that leaves G. minor but is this correct? :D

I have pics of a male taken later also so maybe I should post those here. One shows bright orange yellow tergites, but it's with a Tachina fera.

First 3 pics female taken on 28th July 2008 on Clematis flammula. Lincoln UK.

Male on 19th September, then early October.

Males are G. maculata, and females are also in my opinion.
G. picta is the old name for G. minor. ;)

Hmmm, could that be just the downward angle making the orange areas look reduced?

Adding that I now see what you mean, there looks to be a darker area going down the middle.
