I think, this could be a Hydrotaea, maybe Hydrotaea chalcogaster.
I found this fly in July, in western switzerland, agricultural landscape, 400 m above sea level.
So, what do the people here think?

This is an hoverfly, one among the genera that don't look like typical hoverflies. This is a male
Cheilosia, probably
Cheilosia impressa.

Thanks for the information. Indeed, it did not remind me of a hoverfly.
So maybe it would be good to change this thread to Syrphids. How could this be done?
