I think this is Chaboridae. Can someone give it a definite name?
From central lowland France (la Brenne), 1 September 2008, swept from grass in a damp field grazed by horses.

Obviously the forelegs are broken. Are you sure that this is not a female Chironomid midge? From this angle this is my first impression, but I may be wrong.

Hi, I think there should be at least 10 veins to reach the end of the wing in a Chaoboridae. This has less, so I think Chironomidae.

Thanks guys, I'll look again at it. I don't get on terribly well with the Nematocera, so I am not surprised to be wrong :)
