Hello

Can you help me with this Muscidae : Phaonia subventa ? Mydaea ?
Which are the discriminating characters ?

I'm glad :) that my fly found a name, but I would very happy ;) to know why (why Midaea instead of Phaonia).

Where must we search the differences between this two genera ?

Eric,
generally Mydaea has setae on radial node of wing (both on dorsal and ventral sides) and has not pd on t3.
We can't see these characters on your image, alas.
But scutellum helps in this case - some Phaonias have black abdomen and scutellum partly yellow, some Phaonias - all yellow scutellum and partly yellow abdomen. Your fly has enterly yellow scutellum + enterly dark abdomen.
