Hello!
I see this one every year, last year I got pics of them in copulation too but they were with my old camera. It is very small, could be 3mm. I will venture to say it reminds me of Empididae, that's all! I have seen them eat even smaller flies! :D Thanks! Janet

Thanks Nikita! I can't seem to recognise Hybotidae can I? :P
It looks a little like
Crossopalpus curvinervis (male).

I found a list of British Diptera, there's only two Crossopalpus species listed. C. humilis and C. nigritellus.

Umm.. That's a list of specimens in a particular collection, and not a checklist of species..

Yea, in my hurry I went from bottom to top to check and missed the first line! I found another list with about 6 on but can't find it again!
