Hi,
This was very small, Empis femorata male looks similar and I had E. femorata female. Could this be the male? Not sure of it's length but may 7mm. Thanks for any help :) Janet

Hello!
Bicellaria (Hybotidae)? But that would have been at most 3 mm.

Hello! It may have been only 3mm, I know it was very small but it's some time since I took the pics. I also know I had a problem getting pics of it so it must have been that small!:D Look how big the Lilium bulb is, and it was quite small. Thanks Juergen!
Best regards! Janet

Hello!

Could it also be this one, Hybos culiciformis (male)?
I don't think so. Too slender legs and too "humpy" even for that genus. Both are frequent here (
Bicellaria literally on every grass halm in the warmer season) and are easy to distinguish in the field (
Hybos is also considerably bigger), but from a photo I can't guarantee it. Better wait for the experts...

Ok, thanks Juergen! The pic of Bicellaria doesn't show the abdomen. Hopefully waiting for the experts...
Best regards! :)

Swollen genitalia make it inmistakably
H. culiciformis.

Thank you Paul! I think it was because my pic was smaller than the one in the gallery which confused. :)
Thank Juergen for heading me in the right direction!
