Hi!
I'm an italian "insect fan" and this is my first post here. I received the URL of your site from a friend that suggested me to post here a picture I shoot on the 20th of september, near my house in northern italy (about 100 metres of altitude), on a oak leaf.
I'm not a dipterist so I don't know precisely what kind of fly is, but I thought it was a
Lucilia caesar. Another friend identified it as a
Lucilia sericata, but he wasn't sure...
So I'm here to ask for your help :D It is possible to identify this green fly?
Thanx a lot!!!

Hello,
I'm not a dipterist either, but it looks like a
L.bufonivora. Better wait for the experts though.

I think it is more likely to be
L silvarum, but with only one view, it is impossible to be definite.
Caesar and
bufonivora usually only have 2 post-sutural acr,
sericata has a pale basicosta.

Ok!
After seeing some pictures I think that maybe it's really a Lucilia silvarum!
Thank you very much!v :)
