Hello!

Is it possible to tell more than Lucilia sp.? Both females were relatively large (9-10 mm), both from a blackberry hedge in northwest Germany, the first one from Sept-21, the second from Sept-26.

Black basicosta (rules out sericata and richardsi)

T1+2 does not contrast strongly with the others (rules out silvarum and bufonivora)

Also note T3 has short, fine, inconspicuous marginals.

We are left with ampullacea, caesar and illustris. I doubt it is ampullacea, so it is a toss up between caesar and illustris. I wouldn't like to say which (females are distinguishable by the arrangement of marginals on T6).

Hello, Susan!

Many thanks for your explanations! In the future I will have an eye on Lucilia and try to get better photos (until now I only took sporadic pics, because they were unidentifiable for me).
