Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Another Muscina --> M. levida

Hello!

Because of the size (10 mm+) I first thought this was a Polietes male, but on a closer look this must be Muscina sp.. I am not sure about the species. M. levida is normally much smaller here. Found on Sept-18 at a hedge, northwest Germany.

That surprises me (although the complete dark colouration - except scutellum tip - suggests this species), because M. levida is mostly the smallest of the Muscina species here. I have never seen such a big one. Thanks one more time!

It is given for 6-9 mm. A superior size can happen (this one as well eaten :)).
