Second most striking finding on my holidays. I saw this fly running along small decaying branches in a Quercus robur forest edge and until I approached I thought it was an ant! Might it be a Sepsidae?

Thanks!

This looks like Myrmecomyia (Otitidae)

is Myrmecomyia/Myrmecomya a valid genus? I think that Cephalia is the correct name, and that Ulidiidae is the name of the family.

Cephalia rufipes Mg. (Ulidiidae: Otitinae: Cephaliini)

Lucky you!
