Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Empis tessellata prey

The killer is a male Empis tessellata (Empididae), but any ideas on what the Tipulid prey might be? From 9 May 2008, Indre et Loire, central France.

Could be Nephrotoma, Tipulidae. Tipuloid in any case.

Ok - I understand from this that I cannot even be certain about the family. Worth a try - the most miserable looking prey is sometimes identified on the forum :p
