the species was photo in 16 July 2008, in south western part of Romania, Mehedinti County, in the Natural Reserve Cazanele Mari, The IRon Gates Natural Park.

I think not, closer to
modesta but might be
paniscus. it is rather odd in that abdomen pattern suggests that it is a female while the tegula is pale, a feature of males in some species.

as far as I could read on this site and on the net, Villa genus is very difficult. I suppose that the name for this fly will be just Villa sp. :(next time I will collect it.B).

Try and obtain both sexes and pin them carefully, material in spirit often gets to me in poor condition with all the scales rubbed off.
