Thread subject: Diptera.info :: unknown Mycetophilidae

Hello,

I found this one on a mushroom in a forest near Hamburg, Germany.

I think it the family is Mycetophilidae, i have seen it serveral times befor on mushrooms (Piptoporus). Its size is about 2mm.

you are absolutely right :-) I also found a picture in the Gallery now, but its unidentyfied too...

Cecidomyiidae has many, many species... over 6000 if I recall well. It is among one of the hardest families to ID. Curiously, it is more easy to recognize the galls they form. :)
