Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Empis variegata?

Hi,
I have found only two pics of <i>Empis variegata</i>, one was poor and the other was just about good enough to see that it looked like mine. That is if it was correct, it was from a reasonably reliable source. There is no pic of this in the Gallery.
Taken in my garden, near Lincoln UK.

It rested briefly on Sedum 'Frosty Morn'.

Empis livida. Contrary to the males, the abdomen often appears blackish with dusted triangular markings laterally.
E. variagata, as far as I know not yet recorded from Britain, also has maculate wings.
