I found this small 7mm midge in East Lincs, UK this week.
I cannot recall seeing one before with a totally black body.
From the wing venation, I presume that it is a Chironomidae.
'Any advice on the genus?
I appreciate that species identification may well be impossible.
Thanks
Alan

Black ones are usual in Diamesiinae and Orhtocladiinae (winter or cold weather ones), though itīs not a rule, Iīm learning and I canīt see the subfamily without wing detail, sorry
