Hello,
Here is a male Chironomidae found on March 29, 2026, in a wet meadow in Villeneuve d'Ascq (Nord, France). It was resting on a leaf of
Symphytum officinale.
Is it possible to identify its genus or, at least, its subfamily ?
Thank you in advance,
Dominique

Thank you, John, for clarifying that.
I read (on the internet - BugGuide "Tribe Chironomini") that this tribe consists of five groups (of genus) : Chironomus, Harnischia, Polypedium Endochironomus, Stenochironomus, Lauterborniella. Do you agree with that ?

Sorry, I don't know why an emoji popped up there. It was unintentional !
