Hello !

I met an Empis yesterday (13th of march) in France. I tried different keys but I can't really follow all the couplets based on these pictures. Based on habitus I think it may be Empis chioptera ?
- fore and back basitarsi swollen
- white wings when seen at a certain angle

Do you think we could reasonably conclude to E. chioptera, or should we knock back to Empis sp. ? Or an entirely different species ?

Thank you so much, your expertise is very valuable for rookie dipterists !

Looks quite good for a male Empis chioptera, but the images are too blurry to be sure, sorry. I propose male Empis cf. chioptera.

Thanks, Eric ! I couldn't get better images because I had not a good lighting, I'll see if I can see it again another day !
