Good day!
I'm heaving a hard time to be sure about this fly's familiy.
I would be grateful, if somebody could help me out! Unfortunately I only have this one foto.
Found in Nepal, around 2km east of Shika village
Habitat: Dense forest in a valley
Date: 17. Oktober 2025
Alt: ~2500m

Looks like a Scaptomyza, subgenus Parascaptomyza (although some characters like costal break and branched arista are not well visible). Several species, distinguished by characters of male genitalia, can be considered. Btw., S. (P.) himalayana has been described from Nepal.

To me, this looks more like Sphaeroceridae, rather than Parascaptomyza

Yes, I also thought so - there doesn't seem to be a costal break
