Mediterranean scrub. South center of spain. 600 m. October.

I don't have any keys to this genus...if it really is Siphona.

It is Siphona. The key in Cerretti's I tachinidi della fauna italiana is likely to work for Spain. I hesitate to try to identify Siphona to species. The North American species are quite difficult.

Normally, Siphona are hopeless from pics. But this definitely looks like the male of S. setosa. Which is an autumn species, so that makes sense as well.

Cerretti's key says Siphona setosa should have median marginals on T1+2. I don't see them, only some hairs that are a little longer than the rest.

Yes, I know.
But it seems they are present, but broken half off. Check last pic, difficult to see.

First pic better, you can see the pore right. Definitely broken off.
