Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Emmesomyia socia << Anthomyiidae male

Hello everybody,
I have this male found in France (Ile-de-France) that bothers me, except it should be an Anthomyiidae, I don't know more...
A few features I noticed: all femora black, all tibias yellowish, chetae with hairs, palps yellow

Do you think we can rule out grisea with these pictures (I did not yet do research for the criteria, just read that the two species were very similar, at least for females)

I hope so, Cedric:
E. grisea: Hind femur with only 1-2 distinct pv-setae about middle which are hardly longer than femur is deep
E. socia: Hind femur with more numerous pv-setae of which one or more about middle are quite 1.5 times as long as femur is deep
