Hello,
Here is another Nowickia found at 2,624 m altitude at the summit of Pic de Gallinas in the Pyrenees, along with some supposed congeners.
According to the Tschorsnig key (p. 50):
- 1. Tergite 2 without marginal dorsal setae
- 3. I am unsure of: long arista, broad palp tips, narrow cheeks
- 4. Brown palp tips:==> N. atripalpis or N. reducta.
Tschorsnig gives the following descriptions:
Nowickia atripalpis (Robineau-Desvoidy) :
Pyrenees (and other South European mountains), Alps, highlands; NS, BY, NB / A, CH. Usually in places between 900 and 2000 m, singles however also in the North German Plain. End June
Nowickia reducta Mesnil :
Alps, Pyrenees; A, CH. Warmer mountainous areas from 1800 - 2900 m. Mid July to End August, 1 generation. Usually on mountain tops; rare. Host unknown.
Given the altitude and context, Nowickia reducta seems plausible to me.
What do you think, please?
