Hi,
On 29 July I saw two Tachinid males on
Daucus carota inflorescences in south-eastern Berlin. I am pretty sure that the belong to
Exorista, and because of 3 postsutural dc got to the
E. rustica group where the trouble started.
E. mimula and
E. rustica can be expected here, genitals can’t be checked, and morphology is somewhat overlapping. I think I see discals on T3 at least in one specimen, pointing a bit more to
E. rustica, and I calculated the frons:eye ratio from two pictures, which gave 0.8. This would also fit
E. rustica, so I would like to label the pictures with that name - but better with a “cf.”? Thanks for comments,
Sundew

We can only be sure with genitalia, but there are no indications this might be mimula, so rustica is very likely indeed.
