Many thanks, John :). Perhaps it is a fly of the genus Exorista, and if so, perhaps Exorista larvarum or E. fasciata?

Hold your horses ! Eye is very hairy. I am thinking Phorinia aurifrons.

Phorinia aurifrons is obviously a much better fit. To me, as a layman, these flies all look pretty much the same. Thanks for your correction.

Yes I know. Phorinia aurifrons stands out because the reclinate orbitals are so strong. But this requires an awful lot of experience
