Hello,
Here is my current thinking on this Chironomidae with the British key:
Subfamily: Tarsomere 1 longer than tibia 1 ==> Chironominae
Genus:
1- Wings without macrotrichia (only microtrichia), distinct and oblique r-m
3- No long spurs visible on all tibiae, eyes with a long dorsal projection (photo 4)
4- At least 1 tibial spur (right tibia 1, photo 3) ==> Chironomus
Subgenus:
1- Bare wing membrane
2- Each tibial comb (inner and outer) with a short spur???
3- Well-developed pulvili (photo 1, top right)
4- Pronotum forming a distinct collar, extending to the anterior edge of the scutum and not completely divided in the middle (photo 4, ==> Chironomus (Chironomus)?
What do you think, please?
