A spider specialist is also welcome on the forum. It may sometimes give us another angle to look at things!

As to the fly, the shape of the head and body are really calyptrate-like. I am of course not entirely familiar with the Japanese fauna but still Lucilia seems an option. Variation in size within the family may be considerable, as a result of varying availability of food to larvae. Well, again I am open to suggestions if someone thinks it is something entirely different.
