Hello,

are Hilara generally not identifiable from photos? This 3.5 mm male is from a gate over a forest path (northwest Germany).

Empis.

Hilara males are dichoptic and the shape of vein R4 is different.

very interesting, thanks! I thought the swollen forelegs were characteristic for Hilara. awkward
