Hello, are Hilara generally not identifiable from photos? This 3.5 mm male is from a gate over a forest path (northwest Germany). Empis. Hilara males are dichoptic and the shape of vein R4 is different. |

On the same day I photographed another male in our garden, but I did not post it here, because the picture was so bad.
