Found by pine woodlands yesterday evening. I am puzzled. The bristles on the abdomen might be of a Tachinid (Macquartia bristles, for example (?)) but the general looks and venation looks much closer to a Calliphoridae. However I cannot think of any Calliphorid looking like this. Any ideas? I am completely lost Sad

Thanks for wahtever help! Smile

Unless someone has a better idea, how about a very worn Pollenia male?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
