Hello, I believe this hoverfly is a Paragus-species. Is there enough detail visible to potentially identify it as P. haemorrhous?
eyes with uniform hair, black scutellum, longer antennae

Date found: 26 Sept. 2026, Hagen (Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia), fallow land at the edge of the woods, likely on *Erigeron annuus*, size approx. 4.5 mm

Hello Axel, the genitalia look larger on image 3 than the ones of P. haemorrhous. Do you have more photos (ventrally, laterally)? I think the ecology (edge of the wood) votes for haemorrhous.

Hello Eric,
sorry :-(
Unfortunately, I only have a blurry picture left showing the animal urinating.

Thanks Axel, that looks (as good as it can be) reliable for P. haemorrhous.
Greetings, Eric
