Hello,

I found this Haematopota in my garden (north of Brittany, 10km near coast).
For me it's italica but it's only my second for this species so I need a confirmation.
- blue-grey
- tergite 5-6 with light spots
- femur pink
- beautiful 'flower-like' on wings Wink
- palp with lots of black hairs
- first antennal segment quite long (but not really 4 times long) and grey

My first suggestion was bigoti quite common in my garden. But the shape of the first antennal segment is not ok for this species.
With pink femur in our area it's grandis, bigoti and italica.

Thanks,
BenoƮt

Yes, I agree (female italica) but it is unusually dark.

It is sad news. I read him a month ago, as he replied to me about a wrong identification. He was brilliant, as always.
